BUT here’s the kicker: Most of the other 83% are deeply interested in a relationship with God. They just don’t expect to find help from a church. They see church as boring, irrelevant, judgmental, hypocritical, and often led by creepers or pickpockets. They expect church to be – ironically – unspiritual. That’s heartbreaking – but we totally get it. We’ve all had some of those experiences too, but we have also seen God’s Church at its best on many occasions. That’s why we started a church for the other 83%. People who want to learn about Jesus, but never thought they’d fit in a traditional church. Jesus taught that life is about relationships – loving God and loving people. So we try hard to make those the main objectives at Momentum. We also believe that church should rock. And if God is the source of joy – which He claims to be – church should be kinda fun! We take God very seriously, but we don’t take ourselves very seriously at all. Momentum is a church of great live music, laughter, and a bunch of “Dang-­I-­think­-God-­really­-wanted­-me-­to-­be-­here-­today” kind of moments. We want kids who have experienced our MoKids ministry to wake up every morning asking, “Hey, is it Sunday yet?!” We also think a church should be the “hands and feet of God” in the community – meeting needs in our schools, sports leagues, nonprofits… We’re not a perfect church. Everyone at Momentum is a work­-in-­progress, and we all know it. Momentum is a diverse mix that includes followers of Jesus (or, Christians) who are striving to grow in their faith, some Christians who feel stuck or stagnant, and spiritual-seekers who are investigating Jesus as they work through their doubts, questions, and curiosity. Birth-5th Grade Our goal is for your kids to wake up every morning, rub the crust out of their eyes, and ask, “Hey, is it Sunday yet?” Bottom line: At Momentum – we love kids! They’re a high priority to us. And the biggest reason we really value children is because Jesus valued children. What goes on in MoKids? While you are learning and worshiping with the “big people,” you have the opportunity of letting your kids interact with other children their ages — playing games, learning worship songs, constructing crafts, and hearing stories with timeless lessons from the Bible: Adam & Eve, Noah, Esther, David & Goliath, the life and teachings of Jesus (i.e., The Golden Rule – “Do to others what you would want them to do to you.”), the original Christmas and Easter stories, and tons of other great scriptures that will help your little pal grow closer to God. You can totally keep your kids with you in the main auditorium – but they would definitely learn more in MoKids, because the lessons are geared towards kids. We want kids to be safe…and parents to be worry-free. When you arrive in MoKids, our check-in team members will greet you. If you are a first time guest, they will provide you with a form to fill out. Please fill this out as completely as possible. This will ensure that we have all the emergency contact info we need, plus it will allow us to get to know your family better. Each child will receive a security tag that they will wear while in MoKids. You will receive a tag with a corresponding number. When you pick up your child, our MoKids team will check to make sure the numbers match. And if your kids need you – the number on their MoKids nametag (given to you a check-in) will show up on the screen in main service so you can come to their room. All MoKids volunteers have thorough background checks done before they are allowed to volunteer with the children. Some events happen out in the community (i.e., our band plays in the Twins Days Parade, we lead public school assemblies). Others are held at our building (i.e., Back-to-School Festival, Easter Eggstravaganza, Pics with Santa, offering free parking and refreshments for the Macedonia Fun Fest Fireworks). There are also annual events like the Women's Retreat, Freakout (a middle school & high school retreat) and the Men's Camping Trip. We also offer special classes at Momentum to help you move forward spiritually like Momentum101 (quarterly), Financial Peace University, or topical classes (check out the Mo Groups page for more topic related groups).
