Service Times and Directions
Once upon a time in a land far, far away, lived a knight and a dragon. The dragon had three heads with three different names. They were called “Me,” “Mine,” and “More.” The knight knew the danger this dragon posed, but no one in this land believed it could harm them. The people ignored the beast unaware that every day it was growing in strength and devastating power.

Momentum Staff
Dan Smith, Lead Minister
Much taller than a hobbit, Dan Smith is a storyteller-preacher, comedy-writer, and the lead minister of Momentum Christian Church. Armed with a witty sense of humor, Smitty shares the teachings of Jesus with people in a refreshing down-to-earth manner and sometimes uses cool words like “plethora.” Dan has a unique perspective on faith because he didn’t grow up in a religious home. He came to his conclusions about God when he was a 15-year-old hellion in Toledo, Ohio. Dan spends much of his spare time taking walks with his lovely wife (and baby mama) – Shannon, his first begotten son – Zion, his baby-girl – Azlan, and the final child in the trilogy – a boy named Journey. Contrary to rumor, Dan never fought in the Clone Wars. His favorite light gas is helium.

James Fruits, Arts Minister
Told he was too old to be an American Idol, James Fruits decided to that the only way he was going to make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was to move to Cleveland and pay the admission fee. While working as a wedding singer, James sang his way into the heart of his amazing wife, Christie. His sultry voice and smooth Barry White impersonations led to the birth of their three children. Following in their father’s footsteps, their little girl, Mylee, is a pop star in training, while her twin brother, Malachi backs her up on the guitar and the littlest Fruits, a Guatemalan stud named Max, jams along on pots and pans.
Cleveland’s emphasis on music and the arts was a big draw for James and Christie in moving to C-Town. James strives to incorporate that culture into Momentum’s Sunday morning services through many different mediums, excluding Country Music, if you consider that art.

Joyce Hanlon, Executive Assistant (Part-Time)
Born and raised in Garfield Hts., ”Miss Joyce” (as she is lovingly called by all the “kids” at Mo) is a genuine baby boomer…and proud of it! While contemplating what she should do to keep busy during her long awaited retirement, she attended opening Sunday at Momentum…and the rest, as they say, is history.
Looking back at her life as a church and school volunteer, wife, mom, training writer/presenter at a local real estate/title company, Joyce never imagined that the Lord was actually getting her prepared for her position as “the church lady” at Momentum Christian Church. She loves hanging out with her husband of 27 years, Mike, and their awesome all grown-up kids: Jay and his wife Marcie, Cory, Katy and Pete.
At only 4’11”, Joyce loves tackling the big job of trying to keep the Mo Office running smoothly and supporting the other staff and Mo Ministry Teams in any way she can so they can keep doing what they do best. Need help? She has been known to accept bribes of a cup of coffee and a cinnamon glazed donut.
Shannon Smith, Mo Groups Director (Part-Time)
Shannon Smith was raised all over the place, but will give a shout-out to Crowley, LA because that is where she spent most of high school and because the Cajuns have the best food. After graduating from Kentucky Christian University, Shannon went on to teach high school math in northern, VA – which technically makes her a nerd. Now she resides in Cleveland, OH where she enjoys great Vietnamese food at #1Pho, awesome (and cheap) ice cream at The Big Dipper, and chai tea lattes with her hot husband and three cool kids. Although Shannon wears socks on her arms, has a bandana fetish, and only has high heels in her shoe collection, she’s still allowed to lead the Mo group ministry at Momentum. She’s passionate about creating small environments that move people forward spiritually and truly believes that “Mo group is better than no group.”
It’s no coincidence that Dan & Shannon Smith have the same last name and seem to flirt a lot. To avoid nepotism, we have arranged for any concerns about Shannon’s leadership (that already have been discussed directly with Shannon; Matthew 18:15) to be directed toward Jason Peterson, a key leader at Momentum.
Heidi Munson, MoKidz Coach (Part-Time)
Heidi has been married for 24 years to her amazing husband, Stan, and they have two children who are 11 and 9 years old. The Munsons moved to Cleveland in 2006 as volunteers to help start Momentum. Heidi grew up in California and enjoyed playing up the myth that she lived on the beach to her cousins in Minnesota. The reality was that she lived in a suburb of Sacramento…where there are no oceans, but they do burn the rice fields every fall.
Heidi loves going on dates with her husband and having PJ days with her kids. Her favorite kinds of Saturday afternoons involve going to the Metro Parks for long hikes and to look for treasures. Though she think her kids enjoy this quality family time, it’s more likely that they go because of the amazing snacks she packs. Her favorite places are Starbucks, the library, and the Metro Parks. She wishes that she could be the Starbucks Queen and get a free Non-Fat Mocha every time she visits her loyal employees.
Other than being a terrific wife and incredible mom, Heidi was born on December 27th. So far, this has given her the honor of never having to work on her birthday.
