Ever lost your car keys somewhere in your house? Ever lost your cell phone knowing the battery was dead? Ever lost your kid among the numerous clothing racks at the mall?
If so, you know what God means when he says that his heart beats for things – scratch that – people who are lost, wandering, searching, or scared. He wants the lost to be found…

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Momentum beginning a whole new religion (belief system), or just a new local church?
Momentum Christian Church is definitely not a new religion or belief system. We are a non-denominational Christian Church that throws out all of the artificial religious junk and just tries our best to follow Jesus. This type of church (a Restoration church) came from a spiritual revival that began a couple hundred years ago, when some people said, “Hey – following Jesus is simpler than a lot of churches are making it out to be. Let’s see what the Bible says about life and faith and stop confusing people by mixing in our own opinions and doctrines.” Other non-denominational “Christian Churches” that believe the same stuff that we do can be found all over the rest of Ohio, the U.S., and the world. In fact, according to the New York Times (September 18, 2002), these “Christian Churches” were the fastest growing Christian group in America from 1990-2000. There just aren’t many in the Cleveland area.
What does a typical Sunday morning look like?
Great question! We’ll be asking that same question each week. Each Sunday morning will have a very unique thumbprint, including great live music, high-quality videos, a relevant message (you’ll enjoy this way more than you’re expecting), and maybe a few good belly laughs. We hope to be very creative (as Jesus was) in how we communicate our weekly topics. One Sunday, there might be a painter creating something on a canvas while the band is playing, another week there might be a funny Top Ten List or an improv skit that sets up the sermon. We talk about real-life issues… but we also believe that God is the creator of joy. It’s okay to smile here.
What should I wear?
Whatever you want to wear. Our only dress code is: Please do! Jeans, T-shirts, shorts, flip-flops, tennis shoes, and the like are commonly found at Momentum.
Do I need to bring a Bible on Sunday morning?
Nope. We are assuming you don’t have one (or at least one that you can understand). All of the Bible verses we use will be printed in clear English on the big screen and free Bibles will be provided each week for you to use and/or take home to keep. If you already own a Bible that you really like, feel free to bring it.
What’s the deal with the song “Baby Got Book?”
Dan Smith created the “Baby Got Book” video to be used at the church he worked for in the Washington, D.C. area called New Life Christian Church. The church loved it and when it was put on the internet, people started passing it around like crazy and it exploded! (Google “Baby Got Book” and you’ll see what we mean!) Dan’s personal website, www.whiteboyDJ.com, (where the video can be found) received about 25 million hits in 2005! It’s been mentioned or featured on The Glenn Beck Show, FHM magazine, and it was on VH-1 in February 2006. Momentum has put together a DVD featuring “Baby Got Book” and 10 other funny videos that Dan had a part in creating so that it could be enjoyed by the droves of interested people. All of the proceeds go to Momentum. Click here to purchase the “Left Handed Humor” DVD featuring Baby Got Book. Dan also has an independent CD called “The Caucasian Invasion” that includes “Baby Got Book,” “Lots of Caucasians” (another funny song that has gotten some mainstream airplay), and several other funny comedy songs.
What style of music will you be playing on Sunday mornings?
We’ll be rockin’ a full band and playing worship tunes that are pretty much the same style as what you would hear on a good radio station. Our music will often be a mix of modern rock, funk, and hip-hop.
We will also be covering songs from the radio every week (i.e., Dave Matthews, Green Day, Linkin Park, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige) that tie in with the topic we are tackling that Sunday. Religious or not, mainstream music is often asking questions about, or suggesting answers to, the spiritual questions that our whole culture is also asking.
